Softball Preview: Bend Lava Bears vs. Mountain View Cougars

Bend is 10-0 against Mountain View since April of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Bend Lava Bears will head out on the road to face off against the Mountain View Cougars at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bend has 12 straight wins, Mountain View has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Bend can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. Everything went their way against Summit as Bend made off with a 10-0 victory.

Addisen Fisher was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Fisher has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive pitching appearances. Fisher was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Bryanna Schaefer was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Taylor Aldrich, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Mountain View had to settle for a 6-5 defeat against Ridgeview on Friday.

Like Bend, Mountain View also got a great game from a two-way player: Ashtyn Clark. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Clark was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and a triple.

Clark wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bailey Fain, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
