Baseball Recap: Animo Leadership Starts Season with Victory at Home

Animo Leadership took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Animo Bunche Stallions a 21-0 shutout. The Aztec Eagles haven't had any issues with the Stallions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Salvador Lopez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). The dominant performance gave him a new career-low in hits. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Animo Leadership let Adam Enriquez and Alejandro Gutierrez loose on the outfield. Enriquez went a perfect2-for-2 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs, while Gutierrez scored four runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Axel Serrano, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Coming up, Animo Leadership will challenge Wiseburn- Da Vinci at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Animo Bunche will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Locke at 2:00 p.m. on March 7th.
