Volleyball Recap: Austin Comes Up Short

Austin was the 3-2 winner over Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Panthers fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday.

Austin took Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking ten-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-20, 15-25, 15-25, 15-5.

Leading Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy to victory were Bellissa Marquez and Liberty Espinoza. Marquez had eight digs and two aces, while Espinoza had 18 digs and three aces. That's the most aces Marquez has posted since back in August.

Austin's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-18. As for Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-10.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Austin is set to square off against their familiar foe Irvin at 6:40 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy will take on rival Harmony Science Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
