Basketball Game Preview: St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish vs. St. Ignatius Wildcats

St. Vincent-St. Mary and St. Ignatius are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish will take on the St. Ignatius Wildcats at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

St. Vincent-St. Mary is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They secured a 71-67 W over Ursuline on Friday. The victory was some much needed relief for St. Vincent-St. Mary as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for St. Ignatius against McKinley on Sunday as the squad secured a 96-69 win. That 27 point margin sets a new team best for the Wildcats this season.

St. Ignatius has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.8 points per game. As for St. Vincent-St. Mary, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Things could have been worse for St. Vincent-St. Mary, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took an 87-68 loss to St. Ignatius in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can St. Vincent-St. Mary avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
