Baseball Recap: Argo Comes Up Short

Argo had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 11-17 to make it four. They came up short against the Reavis Rams, falling 14-1. The Argonauts were not able to make up for their defeat to the Rams from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Valente Melero made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

As for Reavis, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matches by six runs or more this season.

On Reavis' side, Tino Villagomez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Villagomez was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Reavis got a massive performance out of Parker Zasada, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Those four RBI gave Zasada a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Juan Avila, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

While Argo had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
