Effingham and Mt. Zion are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but not for long. The Hearts will head out on the road to face off against the Braves at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mt. Zion took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Effingham, who comes in off a win.

On Thursday, Effingham was able to grind out a solid victory over Mattoon, taking the game 2-0. The Hearts haven't had any issues with the Greenwave recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

While Effingham won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-19.

Meanwhile, Mt. Zion didn't have quite enough to beat Taylorville on Tuesday and fell 2-1.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Mt. Zion sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-20, 26-28, 25-21.

Effingham will have to contain Addy Rotz as she made an impact in Mt. Zion's last game. She had 16 digs and one assist.

Mt. Zion's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Effingham, their victory bumped their record up to 11-7.
