Basketball Recap: McLane Gets the Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only McLane walked away with it. They had just enough and edged the Immanuel Eagles out 49-47. That's more bragging rights for the Highlanders, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

It was another big night for Demetrius Simon, who almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine steals. He is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last seven games he's played. Keyvon Burcher was another key player, putting up nine points.

McLane smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.

Brock Beshwate and James Galpin certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Beshwate posted 16 points, while Galpin scored ten points.

McLane's victory bumped their record up to 18-11. As for Immanuel, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-18.

Looking ahead, McLane will square off against Fresno Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Fresno Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine contests -- so hopefully McLane likes a good challenge. Immanuel does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
