Basketball Game Preview: Piedmont Hills Pirates vs. Independence 76ers

The Piedmont Hills Pirates will face off against the Independence 76ers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Piedmont Hills comes in on four and Independence on seven.

Last Friday, Piedmont Hills had just enough and edged Leland out 50-48.

Among those leading the charge was Don Nguyen, who posted 13 points. Christian Arciaga was another key player, putting up nine points.

Meanwhile, everything went Independence's way against Silver Creek on Friday as Independence made off with a 79-53 victory. Given the 76ers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 415th, while the Raiders are ranked 1016th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Piedmont Hills' win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Independence, they are also on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Piedmont Hills and Independence were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but Piedmont Hills came up empty-handed after a 55-54 loss.
