Preview: Golden View Classical Academy Sentinels vs. SkyView Academy Hawks
The Golden View Classical Academy Sentinels will head out on the road to square off against the SkyView Academy Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Colorado (Golden View Classical Academy is ranked 262nd, while the Hawks are ranked 251st).
While it was all tied up 21-21 at halftime, Golden View Classical Academy was not quite the Timberwolves' equal in the second half on Monday. Golden View Classical Academy lost to the Timberwolves at home by a decisive 54-35 margin.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Zoe Jones, who scored 12 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Gianna Acocella was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six assists and six steals.
Meanwhile, SkyView Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 48-9 loss at the hands of Heritage Christian. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points SkyView Academy has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, SkyView Academy got a solid performance out of Lydia Slocum, who scored six points along with eight rebounds.
Golden View Classical Academy now has a losing record at 5-6. As for SkyView Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Golden View Classical Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 24.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like SkyView Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.3 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Golden View Classical Academy suffered a grim 40-14 defeat to the Hawks when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Golden View Classical Academy, Ekko Hopkins (who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine steals) won't be suiting up this time.
