Basketball Recap: Golden Gate Comes Up Short

Golden Gate came up into this matchup off a tough 23-point loss last Saturday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Neumann Celtics by a score of 52-49 on Thursday. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Celtics apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Golden Gate lost, don't look at Kamal Hyppolite. Despite the final result, he went 8 for 17 on his way to 24 points and five boards. The dominant performance gave Hyppolite a new career-high in points. Sam Powell was another key player, putting up 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Golden Gate has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season. As for Neumann, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-11 record this season.

Golden Gate wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 61-43 win against Riverdale on the 3rd. As for Neumann, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 62-45 loss against Bishop Verot on the 31st.
