Basketball Recap: Bayard's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Bayard had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They managed a 51-45 victory over the Leyton Warriors on Thursday. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the Warriors back in December of 2024, they had to take a 66-62 loss.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bayard to victory, but perhaps none more so than Noah Manka, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 11 points. Another player making a difference was Connor Cochran, who posted 12 points.

Jeremiah Hajek and Alec Watchorn certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Hajek went 5 of 11 en route to 12 points, while Watchorn earned eight points and four steals. Watchorn also posted a block, marking his first of the season. Kaleb Miller was another key player, putting up nine points.

Bayard's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-10. As for Leyton, they dropped their record down to 2-8 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Bayard has already played their next contest, a 72-34 loss against Hemingford on the 17th. As for Leyton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 55-41 victory against Potter-Dix on the 17th.
