Newberry dropped their record down to 4-3-1 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Pickford Panthers, falling 15-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Indians have suffered since May 28, 2024.

As for Pickford, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 12-0-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

For Pickford's part, Carter Rye made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Rye has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Gunner Bennin was incredible, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-3. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Kaden Wiltfong also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Coming up, Newberry will welcome Mackinaw City at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Pickford, they will venture away from home to face off against Harbor Light Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
