Basketball Recap: Lee Williams Comes Up Short

Lee Williams lost against Mingus back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Lee Williams Volunteers took a blow against the Mingus Marauders, falling 70-29. While losing is never fun, the Volunteers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 205th, while the Marauders are ranked 58th).

Mingus got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brianka Villalobos out in front who went 7 of 14 en route to 16 points along with six steals and five boards. Villalobos' evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alice Kinsey, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Lee Williams dropped their record down to 4-12 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Mingus, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-2.

Lee Williams will challenge Mohave at 5:30 p.m. on January 15th. As for Mingus, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-44 defeat against Flagstaff on the 9th.
