The Leon Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Leon sitting on eight straight victories and Corrigan-Camden on three.
Leon's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They claimed a resounding 41-0 win over Hearne. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won six matchups by 28 points or more so far this season.
Leon's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Parker Thomas, who rushed for 55 yards and two scores on only six carries. Another player making a difference was Cooper Stevens, who gained 79 total yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Leon was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 276 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 188 rushing yards in six consecutive contests.
Leon didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Cullen Vestal and Wyatt Moore.
Meanwhile, Corrigan-Camden got the win against Normangee on Friday by a conclusive 26-6. The Bulldogs are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the fifth game they've won by 20+ points this season.
Leon better focus on containing Derrick Reagie and William Ratliff as the pair were huge in Corrigan-Camden's win. Reagie rushed for 216 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 11.4 yards per carry, while Ratliff rushed for 161 yards and one touchdown while picking up 10.1 yards per carry. Reagie's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 141 rushing yards.
Leon's record now sits at 8-0. As for Corrigan-Camden, their record is now 5-3.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Leon has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 252.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Corrigan-Camden struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 422.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Leon took a serious blow against Corrigan-Camden when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 33-0. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Reagie, who rushed for 188 yards and one score while picking up 9.0 yards per carry.
