Basketball Game Preview: Nanakuli Golden Hawks vs. Pearl City Chargers

The Nanakuli Golden Hawks will head out to square off against the Pearl City Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Nanakuli is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Hawaii's top teams: Konawaena, who was ranked fourth at the time (Nanakuli was ranked 22nd). Nanakuli came up short against Konawaena on Thursday, falling 46-26.

Meanwhile, Pearl City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 46-23 to Mid-Pacific Institute.

Pearl City's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Nanakuli, they dropped their record down to 2-4 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Nanakuli ended up a good deal behind Pearl City when the teams last played back in December of 2023, losing 51-32. Can Nanakuli avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
