Softball Recap: Prattville Lions vs. Tuscaloosa County Wildcats
Prattville extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 8-14 in the process. They lost 7-1 to the Tuscaloosa County Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-0 on Tuesday.
Prattville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaytie Chandler, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
As for Tuscaloosa County, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 32-8-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 21 matches by six runs or more this season.
On Tuscaloosa County's side, they got a great performance from Cayleigh Pearson as she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Pearson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 19 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Holly Beth Brooks, who went 1-for-5 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Jaslene Belden, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Coming up, Prattville will challenge Saint James at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Tuscaloosa County, they will be taking part in a tournament against Faith Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
