Baseball Recap: Boling's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Boling had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against the Palacios Sharks by a score of 5-1 on Saturday. This was a revenge game for the Bulldogs: when they faced off against the Sharks last Friday, they had to take a 9-8 loss.

Brayden Macek spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Boling saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Randy Ruiz, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Ruiz is becoming a predictor of Boling's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-7 when he doesn't).

Boling's victory bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Palacios, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-4.

Boling will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Brazos at 7:00 p.m. on March 18th. As for Palacios, they will welcome Brazosport Christian at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday.
