Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Dominick Walsh and Odell Brown Lead Fivay to Victory

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Fivay ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 86-84 victory over the River Ridge Royal Knights. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Falcons.

Fivay was led to victory by Odell Brown and Dominick Walsh. Brown dropped a double-double on 28 points and 15 rebounds, while Walsh went 8 for 16 en route to 22 points along with eight assists and seven boards. The dominant performance gave Brown a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Orvill Ortiz, who posted eight points and six boards.

Fivay smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in ten consecutive matchups.

Defeat or not, River Ridge got some senior leadership from Jacob Yeager and Tommy DeLoreto. Yeager went 8 of 16 on his way to 21 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals, while DeLoreto went 6 for 10 en route to 16 points and six boards. The game was Yeager's 12th in a row with at least ten points. Ashton Adams also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Fivay has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.0 points per game. As for River Ridge, they dropped their record down to 8-10 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Fivay has already played their next matchup, a 76-42 win against Zephyrhills on the 15th. As for River Ridge, they will square off against Hudson at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. River Ridge knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 games -- so hopefully Hudson likes a good challenge.
