Football Recap: Spring Grove Piles Up the Points Against Northeastern

There's no place like home for Spring Grove, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 55-0 win over the Northeastern Bobcats. That 55 point margin sets a new team best for the Rockets this season.

Spring Grove's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brody Redding, who rushed for 99 yards and two TDs on only six carries. Davis Baum was another key player, rushing for 36 yards and one touchdown.

Spring Grove didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Zane Lawrence and Kenny Garcia. Garcia got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jordan Eisenhart, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Spring Grove pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.6 points over those games. As for Northeastern, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Spring Grove will head out to challenge Red Lion at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rockets will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 34.5 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Northeastern, they will head out on the road to face off against Central York at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will aim to continue their five-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
