Baseball Game Preview: Oswego East Wolves vs. Conant Cougars

The Oswego East Wolves will square off against the Conant Cougars at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Oswego East took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Neuqua Valley, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Oswego East had just enough and edged out Neuqua Valley 6-4.

Devin Wheaton looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Wilson Terrutty, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mason Palermo, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Conant's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Niles North on Wednesday. Conant was the clear victor by a 13-2 margin over Leyden. Considering the Cougars have won three contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Connor Kehoe looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, Conant let Arjun Patel and Luis Avila run wild. Patel scored three runs while going 3-for-3, while Avila scored a run while going 2-for-3. Patel also brought in two RBI, marking his first of the season. Max Tutt was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.

Conant always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Leyden only posted an OBP of .333.

Oswego East's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Conant, their victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1.
