Basketball Game Preview: Stephenson Jaguars vs. Trinity Christian Lions

The Stephenson Jaguars will face off against the Trinity Christian Lions at 12:15 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Saturday, Stephenson ended up a good deal behind Chamblee and lost 76-58. The Jaguars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Loss or not, Stephenson got some senior leadership from Antonio King and Onyx Stallings-Brown. King dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Stallings-Brown went 7-for-14 on his way to 15 points and three steals. Reginald Smith was another key player, putting up six points.

Meanwhile, Trinity Christian lost to McIntosh on the road by a 59-45 margin on Tuesday.

Stephenson will need to focus on slowing down Thomas Thigpin, one of several Trinity Christian players who made an impact when they last played. He dropped a double-double with ten points and 13 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Stanford, who shot 63% from the field to rack up 14 points.

Stephenson now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Trinity Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Stephenson came up short against Trinity Christian when the teams last played back in November of 2019, falling 55-45. Can the Jaguars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
