Recap: Mark Twain Tigers vs. Clopton Hawks
The Mark Twain Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 73-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clopton. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Tuesday (60), Mark Twain still had to take the loss.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Quin Eckler, who scored 16 points along with six assists and four steals. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Dotson, who scored 15 points.
Even though they lost, Mark Twain were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Mark Twain bumped their record down to 1-7 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Clopton, their win bumped their record up to 1-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mark Twain will square off against Bowling Green at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Clopton will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on North Callaway at 6:00 p.m. on January 19, 2024.
