Football Game Preview: Christian Community Colts vs. Providence Christian Academy LIONS

The Christian Community Colts will head out on the road to challenge the Providence Christian Academy LIONS at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Christian Community's defense has only allowed 13.4 points per game this season, so Providence Christian Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them.

On Friday, Christian Community slipped by Jo Byrns 22-21. Given the Colts' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked second, while the Red Devils are ranked 214th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

A big part of Christian Community's win came down to the chemistry between Jayce Poulin and his top target Landon Bowles. Poulin threw for 220 yards and two TDs while Bowles picked up 74 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Christian Community didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Dryver George and Braxton Pugh. Pugh got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Providence Christian Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They blew past Franklin County 38-15 on Thursday. The LIONS might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 23 points or more this season.

Providence Christian Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.0 points over those games. As for Christian Community, their record now sits at 5-2.

Christian Community was taken down by Providence Christian Academy 36-0 when the teams last played back in September of 2022. Can the Colts avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
