Softball Recap: New Kent Trojans vs. York Falcons
With a playoff game on the line, New Kent rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They skirted past the York Falcons 3-1. Winning may never get old, but New Kent sure is getting used to it with their ninth in a row.
Amber Greiner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive pitching appearances.
At the plate, New Kent's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Hannah Tober, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
New Kent pushed their record up to 20-2 with that victory, which was their 12th straight at home. As for York, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-8.
