Football Recap: Orestimba Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Giovanni Gudino and Michael Maier + How To Watch

Orestimba had lost nine straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-8 to make it ten. They took a hard 42-28 fall against the Escalon Cougars. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 41-14 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Orestimba had strong showings from Michael Maier, who picked up 121 receiving yards and one touchdown, and Giovanni Gudino, who threw for 244 yards and three TDs on only 16 passes. Maier got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 73 yards.

As for Escalon, the victory got them back to even at 5-5. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Leading Escalon to victory were Dylan Ball and Logan Huebner. Ball gained 157 total yards and three touchdowns, while Huebner threw for 221 yards and four touchdowns on only 18 passes. Those 221 passing yards gave Huebner a new career-high.

Orestimba and Escalon are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Warriors will welcome Beyer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Orestimba will be up against the Patriots' rather soft defense (which has allowed 32 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Escalon, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Roseville at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 902 yards in their previous games.
