Baseball Recap: Plainview Comes Up Short

Plainview was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Elgin Owls.

Cooper Flowers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Plainview saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Devyn Anderson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Plainview's defeat dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Elgin, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-2 record this season.

While Plainview had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
