Baseball Recap: Jackson Day Comes Up Short

Jackson Day was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Mecklenburg Hawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-7 last Thursday.

Jackson Day saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick Rauch, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Rauch is becoming a predictor of the Mariners' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 0-8 when he doesn't).

Jackson Day's record now sits at 2-9. As for West Mecklenburg, they pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Jackson Day is taking a road trip to square off against NorthPoint Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The NightHawks will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Mariners surely won't give up without a fight. As for West Mecklenburg, they will welcome Hopewell at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hawks will need to watch out since the Titans have now posted at least ten runs in their last six games.
