Batesville hasn't had much luck against Lawrenceburg recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bulldogs will head out to square off against the Tigers at 5:30 p.m.
Batesville is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They fell 6-3 to Union County.
Caitlyn Fox made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Jadah Zins also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Lawrenceburg's hitters rose to the challenge against a Pirates pitching crew that boasted an average of only 3.3 runs allowed on Wednesday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 17-6 margin over Greensburg. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Izabella Miller made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits. Miller was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
In other batting news, Lawrenceburg got a massive performance out of Jill Cavanaugh, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. That's the most RBI Cavanaugh has posted since back in April. Ava Hall was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Lawrenceburg hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive games.
Lawrenceburg's record now sits at 14-8. As for Batesville, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.
Batesville might still be hurting after the 12-1 loss they got from Lawrenceburg in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
