Basketball Game Preview: Corydon Central Panthers vs. Charlestown Pirates

The Corydon Central Panthers will square off against the Charlestown Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Corydon Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.5 points per game this season.

Corydon Central took a loss when they played away from home last Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Crawford County 61-26. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Wolfpack are ranked 193rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Corydon Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Josie Vaughn led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. Vaughn is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 17 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Murphy, who went 5 for 11 en route to 15 points and five steals.

Charlestown has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 53-42 to Madison on Friday.

Corydon Central's victory bumped their record up to 17-5. As for Charlestown, their loss dropped their record down to 14-8.

Corydon Central strolled past Charlestown in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a score of 53-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for Corydon Central since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
