Baseball Recap: Ignacio Comes Up Short

Ignacio entered their game against Olathe on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Bobcats lost 20-12 to the Pirates. If the Bobcats were looking for revenge after losing 11-1 to the Pirates when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Sonny Flores and Gabe Archuletta did some serious damage despite the final result: Flores went 3-for-5 with five RBI, one run, and one double, while Archuletta got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Flores is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as he's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Maez, who went 2-for-3 with three runs.

Ignacio suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 9-5. As for Olathe, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 10-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ignacio will host Bayfield at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bobcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolverines have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season. As for Olathe, they will be playing at home against Grand Valley at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates will need to watch out since the Cardinals have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
