Basketball Recap: Mclean Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Win

McLean entered their tilt with Shamrock on Tuesday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They blew past the Shamrock Irish 84-47. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McLean to victory, but perhaps none more so than Collin Alston, who went 10 for 22 on his way to 21 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Alston is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last nine games he's played. Jayvon Salazar was another key player, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 13 boards.

McLean smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Several Irish players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rhpy Owens, who went 8 of 13 en route to 17 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Owens a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Ishee, who posted six points and seven boards.

McLean pushed their record up to 17-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 36 points. As for Shamrock, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 13 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.

Coincidentally, McLean and Shamrock will both be playing Hedley the next time they take the court. Shamrock will host Hedley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while McLean will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on January 28th.
