Softball Preview: Oil City Oilers vs. Hickory Hornets

Oil City is 0-7 against Hickory since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Oil City Oilers will head out on the road to challenge the Hickory Hornets at 12:00 p.m.

Oil City is is headed into Saturday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Wednesday. They lost 23-1 to Jamestown.

Meanwhile, Hickory put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They blew past Slippery Rock 10-3.

Hallie Miller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Miller has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive pitching appearances. Miller was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Jordyn Hanzelka was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Olivia Schneider, who went 2-for-4 with a triple, a run, and an RBI.

Oil City's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Hickory, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.
