Soccer Game Preview: Salem vs. Green Run

The Salem Sundevils will square off against the Green Run Stallions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Salem's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while Green Run has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

Salem came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 7-0 to First Colonial. While losing is never fun, Salem can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while First Colonial are ranked ninth).

Meanwhile, Green Run fell victim to Kempsville and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They came up short against the Chiefs, falling 10-0.

Green Run's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Salem, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Salem took their victory against Green Run when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 8-0 score. Will the Sundevils repeat their success, or do the Stallions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
