The Glades Day Gators are taking a road trip to challenge the Atlantic Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Atlantic took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Glades Day, who comes in off a win.
Glades Day is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Glades Central on Friday as Glades Day made off with a 13-7 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Gators needed considering they were shutout in their previous contest.
Kyler Burch was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single hit, allowed only an earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Those runs were his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isaac Perez, who scored two runs and stole five bases while going 2-for-3. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was James Alderman, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-5.
Glades Day kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glades Central onlymanaged seven hits.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Atlantic faced off against Forest Hill on Thursday. Atlantic came up short against Forest Hill, falling 21-6.
Landon Thompson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Rouss Doverno was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
Glades Day's record now sits at 2-3. As for Atlantic, they dropped their record down to 1-2 with the defeat, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.
Glades Day's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's game. Glades Day has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Atlantic, though, as they've been averaging only 0.7 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Glades Day continue to outrun the ball?
