Recap: Sahuarita Mustangs vs. Mica Mountain Thunderbolts

The Sahuarita Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their tenth straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 68-48 loss at the hands of Mica Mountain. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Sahuarita in their matchups with Mica Mountain: they've now lost four in a row.

Sahuarita lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Alejandro Vega, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Vega is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Gionni Chavarria, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Sahuarita dropped their record down to 6-20 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight at home. As for Mica Mountain, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-2.

Sahuarita will be playing at home against Amphitheater at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Amphitheater knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Sahuarita likes a good challenge. As for Mica Mountain, they will head out on the road to face off against Walden Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Walden Grove has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,031 points over their last 14 matchups.
