Football Game Preview: Loris Lions vs. Aynor Blue Jackets

Loris and Aynor are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Blue Jackets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Loris is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

On Friday, everything came up roses for Loris against Marlboro County as the team secured a 49-14 win. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won eight games by 21 points or more so far this season.

It was another big night for Zamire Gerald, who threw for 271 yards and four TDs while completing 72.7% of his passes. He has been hot recently, having posted four or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Khalil Sherman was Gerald's top target, picking up 89 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Loris didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Marlboro County to a completion percentage of just 47.4%. The last time the Lions' completion percentage was this high was back in August.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three matchup, Aynor brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. Everything went their way against Georgetown on Friday as they made off with a 42-20 victory. The win continues a trend for the Blue Jackets in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won eight in a row.

Aynor's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-6. As for Loris, their win bumped their record up to 9-0.

Everything went Loris' way against Aynor in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as Loris made off with a 28-8 victory. In that game, the Lions amassed a halftime lead of 21-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
