Basketball Recap: L.C. Bird Snaps 20-Game Streak of Wins at Home

L.C. Bird entered their matchup against Albemarle on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The contest between the L.C. Bird Skyhawks and the Albemarle Patriots didn't end well, with the L.C. Bird Skyhawks falling 72-58. The Skyhawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

L.C. Bird's defeat ended a 20-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-4. As for Albemarle, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-3.

L.C. Bird and Albemarle should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. L.C. Bird (ranked 28th) will meet Huguenot (ranked 263rd) at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. L.C. Bird will be looking to keep their 20-game home win streak dating back to last season alive. Similarly, Albemarle will face off against Fluvanna County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 200 places (23 vs. 223).
