Basketball Game Preview: Southern Wayne Saints vs. Eastern Wayne Warriors

The Southern Wayne Saints will venture away from home to take on the Eastern Wayne Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Eastern Wayne took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Southern Wayne, who comes in off a win.

Southern Wayne saw some tournament action on Monday. They strolled past Wayne Christian with points to spare, taking the game 46-29. The game marked the Saints' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Nevaeh Hines-Bass was her usual excellent self, going 6 for 12 on her way to 15 points and five rebounds. She has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Destiny Bullock was another key player, putting up eight points.

Meanwhile, Eastern Wayne came up short against Kinston on Monday and fell 58-46. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 402nd, while the Vikings are ranked 39th).

Southern Wayne's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Eastern Wayne, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Southern Wayne was able to grind out a solid victory over Eastern Wayne in their previous meeting on December 13th, winning 45-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Southern Wayne since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
