Baseball Recap: Arlington Drops Highest Score of Season Against Lamar

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Arlington). They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over the Lamar Vikings on Friday. The Colts have beaten the Vikings the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Vikings has come to flipping the script.

Abraham Alvarado made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Arlington is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-10 otherwise. Alvarado was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Lunden Prater was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Mason Hensley, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Arlington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Arlington pushed their record up to 13-10 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Lamar, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-14-2.

Looking ahead, Arlington will challenge Lone Star at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Lamar, they will face off against Burleson at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Elks will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight.
