Softball Recap: Oak Mountain Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Oak Mountain had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Hamilton Aggies. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 2-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Sophia Williams looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in hits (zero).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Elia Carrillo, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. Emma McGregor was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

Oak Mountain now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Hamilton, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oak Mountain will challenge Chilton County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Oak Mountain's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Chilton County's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Hamilton, they will square off against Northside at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
