Softball Recap: United Comes Up Short

United extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 17 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-12 in the process. They lost 15-1 to the Penns Manor Comets. If the Lions were looking for revenge after losing 6-2 to the Comets when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Penns Manor, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8.4 runs.

For Penns Manor's part, Macey Pegg made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Pegg was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Joss Bennet was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Kadence Olbert also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. United will face off against Blacklick Valley at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Penns Manor, they will take on Cambria Heights at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
