Football Recap: Legacy Comes Up Short at Home Against Fairview

Legacy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were outmatched by the Fairview Knights and fell 41-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lightning of the 34-7 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

Andrew Gardner threw for 109 yards and one touchdown. Peyton Studebaker was his top target, picking up 71 receiving yards and one score. On the ground, Calum McNeil rushed for 30 yards.

Fairview's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sabi Ruttgers, who picked up 43 receiving yards and one TD, and also punched in one score on the ground. That's the most receiving yards Ruttgers has posted since back in September of 2024.

Looking ahead, Legacy will venture away from home to face off against Rocky Mountain at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fairview, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Arvada West at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
