Softball Recap: Pleasant Grove Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Pleasant Grove never let their opponents score on Friday. They put the hurt on the Franklin Wildcats with a sharp 7-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won five in a row.

Madeline Lawson made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Logan Paredes was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Natalie Brozaitis, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

Pleasant Grove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive games.

Pleasant Grove's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Franklin, their loss dropped their record down to 14-11-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Pleasant Grove will challenge rival Sheldon at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 2.8, the Huskies 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Franklin is set to take on their familiar foe Cosumnes Oaks at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
