Preview: Gibson Southern Titans vs. Washington Hatchets
Gibson Southern has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against The Washington Hatchets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gibson Southern knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Washington likes a good challenge.
Gibson Southern put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Mt. Vernon 40-7 at home. Given Gibson Southern's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Mt. Vernon is ranked 152nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Gibson Southern's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sean DeLong, who rushed for 97 yards and two touchdowns. Gibson Southern also got help from Michael Herren who showed off his sure hands for 98 receiving yards.
Washington can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 46-7 win over West Vigo. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Washington's seven-point performance the match before.
Colton Stowers looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 193 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Isza, who picked up 71 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Gibson Southern's win was their sixth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.8 points per game. As for Washington, their win bumped their record up to 3-7.
Everything came up roses for Gibson Southern against Washington in their previous meeting back in September as the squad secured a 45-6 victory. Does Gibson Southern have another victory up their sleeve, or will Washington turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
