Football Preview: First Coast Buccaneers vs. Sandalwood Saints
After each having a week off, the First Coast Buccaneers and the Sandalwood Saints will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Sandalwood took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on First Coast, who comes in off a win.
Two weeks ago, First Coast didn't have too much trouble with Clay on the road as they won 24-7.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to First Coast's defense and their four sacks. Clay's QB won't forget Quinton Whigham anytime soon given he sacked him twice.
Meanwhile, Sandalwood was not able to break out of their rough patch two weeks ago as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 47-19 loss at the hands of Fletcher. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Saints have suffered against the Senators since September 12, 2014.
The victory got First Coast back to even at 2-2. As for Sandalwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
First Coast might still be hurting after the 35-14 loss they got from Sandalwood in their previous matchup back in November of 2021. Thankfully for First Coast, Christopher Calhoun (who rushed for 106 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, and also threw for 105 yards and a touchdown on only nine passes) won't be suiting up this time.
