Soccer Game Preview: Northampton vs. Pittsfield + How To Watch

The Northampton Blue Devils will challenge the Pittsfield Generals at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Northampton is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Massachusetts' top teams: Longmeadow, who was ranked 13th at the time (Northampton was ranked fourth). Neither the Blue Devils nor the Lancers could gain the upper hand on Friday so the two teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw. The result (or lack thereof) marked Northampton's first draw of the season.

Pittsfield had taken Agawam down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. The Generals fell 3-1 to the Brownies. That's two games in a row now that Pittsfield have lost by exactly two goals.

With that draw, Northampton's record moves to 7-0-1. As for Pittsfield, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's still a better percentage than their 1-6-1 record this season.

Northampton was able to grind out a solid win over Pittsfield in their previous meeting on September 5th, winning 2-0. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Generals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
