Baseball Recap: Nine Straight Home Wins for St. Elizabeth

St. Elizabeth barely beat Linn the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hornets put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 10-0 win on Monday. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.

Aiden Otto looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gavin Williams, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and three runs. Blake Wobbe also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

St. Elizabeth always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Linn only posted an OBP of .304.

St. Elizabeth's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Linn, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-16 record this season.

St. Elizabeth didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 11-1 victory against Prairie Home on the 13th. As for Linn, they have also already played their next contest, a 6-3 win against Russellville on the 13th.
