Basketball Game Preview: Blanket Tigers vs. Santa Anna Mountaineers

The Blanket Tigers will take on the Santa Anna Mountaineers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Blanket has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since November 12.

On Friday, Blanket was beaten by May 67-22. While losing is never fun, Blanket can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1486th, while May is ranked 607th).

Meanwhile, Santa Anna entered their matchup against May on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Santa Anna took a hard 42-24 fall against May. Having soared to a lofty 74 points in the game before, the Mountaineers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Blanket will have to keep a close watch on Kamyn Hale and Kaydence Strickland, a pair of players who had a big impact on Santa Anna's prior game. Hale posted 15 points along with eight boards and three steals, while Strickland had two points and nine rebounds. That was a full 62.5% of Santa Anna's points, marking the 13th time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Santa Anna's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-5. As for Blanket, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.
