Ridgemont is 0-3 against North Baltimore since April of 2018 but things could change on Monday. The Golden Gophers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Ridgemont barely beat Arlington the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Golden Gophers put the hurt on the Red Devils with a sharp 13-7 win on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Golden Gophers.
Aubrie Overly spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Ridgemont got a massive performance out of Kylie Shreve, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. What's more, Shreve posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Amiah Jones, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Ridgemont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, North Baltimore made sure to put some runs up on the board against Leipsic on Thursday. The Tigers blew past the Vikings 15-4. While the Tigers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
The team relied heavily on Layla Delancy, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Leah Trout, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
North Baltimore has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Ridgemont, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Ridgemont has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like North Baltimore struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Ridgemont couldn't quite get it done against North Baltimore when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 10-6. Will the Golden Gophers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
