Football Game Preview: Lower Richland Diamond Hornets vs. Hartsville Red Foxes

The Lower Richland Diamond Hornets will face off against the Hartsville Red Foxes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lower Richland's defense has only allowed 13.7 points per game this season, so Hartsville's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Lower Richland is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Crestwood just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 27-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights.

Despite the loss, Lower Richland had strong showings from Solomon Kelson, who rushed for 111 yards, and Jordan Hargrave, who threw for 47 yards and one touchdown. Kelson showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 53 yards.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Hartsville, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They managed a 27-21 win over Wilson on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Red Foxes in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won nine in a row.

Hartsville's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Lower Richland, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.

Lower Richland took a serious blow against Hartsville when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 54-20. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Diamond Hornets were down 27-6.
